Job Title: Assistant Technical Designer & Operations – Women’s Apparel

Job Description:

This position will work closely with multiple departments, including the Technical Design Manager, Product Development, Patternmakers and Production Manager to enhance smooth workflow and operations in the division.

The Technical Designer will attend fittings, measure garments, communicate technical changes to the factories, formulate corrections and provide solutions to all business partners. In addition, they will be responsible for creating and maintaining Technical Package from development through production including specs, sketches, detail pages and reviewing grades.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Reading, reviewing and entering the data upon receiving the Tech Package reports
• Recording Technical Package received and sending confirmations to overseas
• Measuring samples; fitting samples on live model or form; sending comments to overseas.
• Communicating inter office and overseas
• Maintaining records for the Department
• Measure and review samples against tech packs (Technical Package) to ensure all specs and construction details are met
• Prepare outgoing sample reviews to be sent to vendors, and ensure all reviews are done on a timely basis
• Effectively communicate with all business partners (Product Developers, Buyers, Technical designers, Patternmakers, Production Manager) regarding spec/fit issues
• Facilitate on-going communication with vendors and respond to any technical questions
• Revise POM (Point of Measure) & Construction sketches to illustrate desired pattern or style changes
• Create and update Technical Package (design details, garment construction, sewing construction, measurement specifications) for assigned styles
• Advise Product Developers on feasibility of garment construction
• Track approval status of styles

Other Related Duties:

• Responsible in overall general operations to create and maintain an efficient flow in the day to day business activities of the overall production, in the area of the following, but not limited to:

• Facilities & Equipment
• Salesman sample development
• Production
• Inventory Control
• Order fulfillment
• Research & Development

Degrees Wanted: Bachelors

Majors Wanted: Fashion, Engineering, Management, Information Technology

Skills: Computer knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop knowledge will be plus. Good written and oral skill in English.

Job Requirements: Understand overall garment manufacturing process from start to finish. Must be highly organized and detailed oriented. Hard working, discipline and self motivated. Meet deadlines. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Requirements: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
• Fashion/Apparel Degree in Technical Design or related experience required
•.1-2 year min of experience in apparel industry
• Proven experience with patternmaking, pattern corrections and fit knowledge
• Excellent time-management skills and experience with multi-tasking in a fast paced environment.
• Able to interpret and apply knowledge of design, fabrics, and trims when developing new style
• Self starter with a strong sense of urgency and successful track record in a team-oriented environment.
